Free Geomancy Chart Generator: Three Casting Methods, One Traditional Engine
Most free geomancy generators online do exactly one thing: you hit a button, sixteen figures appear, and that's the entire experience. That's not wrong, exactly. What this means practically is that the three casting methods on my tool aren't three different kinds of chart. They're three different ways of arriving at the same starting point. Once your four Mothers exist, the other twelve figures are calculated identically every time, checked against the same traditional validation rules every time. The method only changes where the randomness comes from.
The Three Ways to Cast
Auto
The system generates all four Mothers instantly, using traditional binary randomization. This is the fastest path from a question to a full chart, and it's a genuinely valid one — the randomness of the moment you click is still doing the same work that a hand-cast set of marks would do. I'd reach for this when I want an answer quickly, or when I trust the instant of the click itself to carry the same weight as a slower ritual would.
16-Taps
This is the closest digital equivalent to the original physical practice. Traditional geomancers generated their Mothers by making rapid, unthought marks in sand or on paper and counting them off in rows of Head, Neck, Body, and Feet. The 16-Taps method recreates that exact rhythm on a screen — you tap out sixteen lines of marks yourself, one Mother at a time, and the system counts and converts them the same way sand or paper always did. Manual
Here, you select all four Mother figures directly by name rather than generating them at all. This isn't for divination in the traditional sense — it's for reconstruction and study. If you already cast a chart by hand with sand, dice, or cards and want to see it rendered digitally, or if you're a student working through how a specific combination of Mothers plays out across the Daughters, Nieces, and Judge, Manual entry lets you set the starting point exactly where you want it and watch the rest of the chart derive itself from there.
What You Get Once You Cast
Once your four Mothers exist, however you generated them, the tool builds out the full sixteen-figure chart and displays it two ways:
- Shield Chart format — the traditional shield-shaped layout showing the complete recursive derivation from Mothers through Judge.
- House Chart format — the same sixteen figures placed into the twelve-house framework, read the way an astrological chart is read, house by house.
I don't treat one of these as more "real" than the other. The Shield Chart is the underlying structure — I've written elsewhere about why I read it as the primary reading rather than a rough draft on the way to something else. The House Chart is a genuinely useful second lens, especially for questions that map naturally onto a specific house of life: relationships to the seventh house, career to the tenth house, and so on.
