Horary Astrology Software Guide
Traditional Techniques for Modern Practitioners
Horary is a technique of using live astrological data to predict the outcome of events on earth.
So, we need an accurate means to get and calculate such data to guide us in making more precise predictions.
At the time I started, there were many free softwares, but each had its limitations — as is common with most free tools.
The main issue is that most of the recent tools are tailored for modern astrology, not the Traditional Astrology practiced by modern people. I'm not accusing the modernists, but all my masters, including John Frawley, and my readings from William Lilly's classic Christian Astrology (considered the textbook of Horary Astrology), are rooted in Traditionalist methods. These methods are more accurate in my experience.
We use the 7 classical planets: Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn — as rulers of the Zodiac signs — just like the ancient thinkers who shaped the development of astrology. The recent 3 planets — Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto — are only used to show some influence, but we can get all we need without them.
My Software Journey
I tried many softwares. Each had its own advantages, and that's why I eventually developed mine — after years of study and some experience in programming.
Some of the softwares work offline, while some are online-based. Below are my top recommendations:
1. Horary Astrology Chart Calculator – Astro-Seek
This is almost the best. If you need a large and comprehensive tool for anything astrological, Astro-Seek is the first place to go. You'll find information you can't get anywhere else for free. It has a huge database with almost everything you'll need in your astrological judgment.
Limitations:
- Since it's free, there are ads, which many find annoying — but understandable considering how much work they've done to keep such a big software running.
- The abundance of features and data can feel overwhelming, especially for beginners. A simple chart can feel like navigating a whole world.
- It's very manual. You have to search for your town manually. Not every small town is included, and entering latitude and longitude isn't beginner-friendly.
Despite all that, this remains the best site for astrological charting — especially if you're experienced.
2. Solar Fire V9 – Astrology Software for Windows
Solar Fire is a professional-level astrology software first produced in 1992 and keeps evolving. It offers high-quality chart production and state-of-the-art calculations using the Swiss Ephemeris.
Pros:
- Save and customize charts
- Easy chart casting
- Interpretive text and visuals
- Designed for both beginners and professionals
Limitations:
- Not usable on mobile. For Horary Astrology, we need to be able to cast charts instantly — at the time and place of the question — so this is a big issue.
- Expensive, and not affordable for many students or learners.
- When I started, I didn't have access to a computer — only mobile. So this was a limitation for me and many others.
3. AstroGold
This tool tries to blend the two above — it's rich in features, and made for mobile users on Android and iPhone. A major advantage is that it can be used offline.
Limitations:
- Not fully free. Many features are behind a paywall, including the Regiomontanus House system, which we rely on in Horary Astrology.
- Some settings are complex even for experienced Horary astrologers.
- Claimed to be developed by the creators of Solar Fire.
It's a good tool, but not very accessible financially or practically for everyone.
4. OLGA – Morinus Astrology
OLGA is very simple and clean. Developed by a practitioner, it lets you cast a chart in seconds.
Pros:
- Easy to use
- Minimal distractions
- Clean interface
Limitations:
- Free version only allows chart casting
- To save charts or store them online, you must subscribe
- Subscription unlocks more features which are worth checking out
5. OracleSanctum Horary Astrology Charting Tool

The OracleSanctum Horary Tool offers a more beginner-friendly alternative with automatic date, time, and location features.
2 Which astrology software is best for traditional horary predictions?
For traditional horary predictions, tools that support the 7 classical planets and Regiomontanus house system are essential. Solar Fire and AstroGold are professional-grade options, but the OracleSanctum Horary Tool is tailored specifically for traditional astrologers, with AI interpretations based on classical rules.
3 Can I cast a horary chart on my mobile phone?
Yes, you can cast a horary chart on your mobile using tools like AstroGold and the OracleSanctum Horary Astrology Tool. OracleSanctum supports both Android and iPhone, allowing you to auto-detect your location and instantly generate accurate charts for horary questions.

5 Why is Regiomontanus the best house system for horary astrology?

6 Are there any accurate AI-based horary astrology chart readers?
Yes, the OracleSanctum Horary Tool includes an AI-based interpretation engine trained on traditional techniques. Unlike generic AI, this system reflects classical methods and delivers nearly 90% accuracy based on tested predictions and trained student input.
